A girl named Saori befriended Nobara when she was a young girl, exposing her to all sorts of city luxuries and sweets. Unfortunately Saori's family was finally run out of Ishikawa by the locals and returned to Tokyo.Growing depopulation didn't bother Nobara as much as the negative attitudes of those around her, believing that if she stayed in Ishikawa, she would simply die and not have amounted to anything.Nobara is a proud and iconoclastic woman who always remains true to herself- Even if that means being seen as an 'arrogant bitch' by others. She refuses to compromise herself and is not swayed by sob stories or tragic pasts, firmly asserting that individuals shape the kind of lives they lead, not personal circumstances.She sees no difference between loving herself as an attractive person and being a strong person, they're both facets of herself that make up the whole. Sexism and misogyny aren't foreign concepts to Nobara, she adamantly refuses to be limited by them and sees fellow women like Maki Zenin as worthy of respect for rejecting the rules and oppressive gatekeeping forced onto her.
